In the forthcoming experience, students are going to bridge the gap between "indoor" and "outdoor" education. Through the natural environment and resources of Camp MacLean, and the efforts of district teachers, students will experience learning and living apart from traditional classrooms. The informality of Outdoor Education allows the teachers and the students to step out of their roles and to relate to each other as people, sharing common experiences and common differences. The camp setting will be less structured than that of the classroom. The pace will be relaxed but serious. Outdoor Education will provide the time, opportunity and teacher support necessary for students to gain insight into the challenges and successes of living with other people.
